Heritage Angels

Andrew Lloyd Webber founded the Heritage Angel programme in 2011 to formally recognise the achievements, dedication and expertise in the conservation, preservation and appreciation of heritage in the UK.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners at Heritage Angel Awards NI 2024! The Awards celebrate the unsung heroes of local heritage and craftsmanship who go to extraordinary lengths to maintain, rescue, restore, regenerate, research and interpret built heritage.  We are grateful to Ulster Architectural Society for running these awards in Northern Ireland for the fifth year in 2024.

The 2024 winners are:

  • Best Maintenance of a Historic Building or Place - The Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strabane
  • Best Rescue of an Historic Building or Place - Roy McKeown, Raceview Mill, Broughshane
  • Best Major Regeneration of an Historic Building or Place – Primark, The Bank Buildings, Belfast
  • Best Contribution to a Heritage Project by Young People - Fermanagh's Vernacular Heritage and Social History
  • Best Craftsmanship or Apprenticeship on a Heritage Rescue or Repair Project - Bernard Cunningham, BCS Plastermoulding
  • Best Research, Interpretation or Recording of a Historic Building or Place - Dr Paul Logue and Ciara MacManus for research of 10 High Street, Carrickfergus
  • Public Vote - The Court House, Bangor
