The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) was founded by William Morris in 1877 and trains specialists in historic building conservation. Graduates go on to work in statutory and voluntary heritage organisations, practices and construction businesses or specialise and set up their own business. In April 2013 the Trustees of the Foundation awarded a grant over 2 years to SPAB to fund 2 full time scholarships in each year for young architects, surveyors and engineers in building conservation, learning specialist repair methods and conservation skills. The Trustees welcomed this support for specialist training that preserves historic techniques for the future generations and enhances future employment prospects of the scholars. PRESS RELEASE
