The Egg is the Theatre Royal Bath's award-winning theatre especially for children, young people and their families. They present a year round programme of shows and events for young people aged from 18 months to teenagers. The Egg also hosts a programme of one off workshops and longer courses for older teenagers and adults who want to get to grips with the more technical or theoretical aspets of the theatre or to develop their acting skills. In May 2012, the Trustees of The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation agreed to provide funding to The Egg over 3 years towards intensive week long Junior Apprentice programmes to provide carefully structured work experience for up to 20 GCSE students per year. The students will get a high quality insight into how events are produced, with the course covering producing, directing, technical, lighting, wardrobe, box office, marketing, development and administration. The Trustees of the Foundation were particularly impressed both with the range of opportunities the work experience will give to young people with a passion for theatre and with the high quality of the provision from professionals at The Egg.
