Course Details
Specialist training and workplace experience for an emerging theatre director at a postgraduate level.
An opportunity for a promising student from a background underrepresented in the theatre industry to take the next steps in developing their career as a professional theatre director. This will include gaining hands-on experience with the guidance and mentorship of a wide range of experienced theatre practitioners.
This programme will offer the combination of real industry-based opportunities whilst providing a rigorous, academic underpinning and range of knowledges and skills that will allow an emerging director to develop their craft and to critically reflect on their practice.
Established in 2003 in collaboration with Arts Council England, Equity & UK Theatre, the intensive 2-year programme includes a 6 month secondment to a leading drama school, a 6 to 9 month secondment to a leading producing theatre and workshops from leading theatre practitioners.
Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation Scholarship will be awarded by Birkbeck as part of the audition/selection process on the combined basis of merit and financial need. The Scholarship will cover course fees and a stipend to help the student pay travel and relocation costs for their secondment. The Scholarship will be reviewed on an annual basis.
Please note that applications made directly to Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation will not be considered.
