The Almeida is a 325 seat theatre in Islington, North London, with a reputation for innovation and excellence, from classics to new works. In February 2014, the Trustees of the Foundation awarded the Almeida a one-off grant towards the Almeida Projects Creative Learning Programme which provides 10,000 opportunities annually for over 3,000 young people aged 5 to 25 to participate in a variety of theatre-based activities inspired by the main stage programme. These activities include: Theatre based workshops for 5 to 14 year olds in conjunction with local schools. Young Friends of Almeida for 15 to 25 year olds, offering subsidised tickets, workshops, term long projects and a discounted annual membership fee. Professional development through Facilitation Training, including master classes, on the job mentoring for teachers and practitioners. PG Cert Applied theatre with the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama for 8 trainees per year. One year Community Arts Apprenticeship for a young person not in employment, education or training.
