The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, Gateshead

An incredible 6,085 Young People's music sessions and workshops were held at The Glasshouse during 2022-23, involving 297 young musicians from all over the North East.  We love hearing their music! 

The Glasshouse Make Music: Young People Programme gives young people aged 4 - 19 access to weekly, top notch music education.  The programme includes one to one tuition and the chance to join a band or orchestra covering a huge range of genres from classical and folk to jazz and pop.  41% of students received a means-tested bursary, contributing towards Foundation and Step-Up level fees, Ensemble fees and Centre for Advanced Training Fees, and breaking barriers to music tuition, workshops and performance.

Workshops this year included sessions with Jess Gillam (also Patron of the Foundation's associated charity Music in Secondary Schools Trust) and the amazing Sheku Kanneh-Mason.  Wow!
