Brighton Dome and Festival Ltd
We've received some lovely feedback from Brighton Dome and Festival Ltd (BDF) who were the recipient of a 3 year grant from the ALWF.
Our funding enabled BDF to provide bursaries to 284 young people (aged 5 to 19) from low-income families, including looked-after children and young people, across Brighton and Hove, ensuring that they received quality music tuition, instrument hire and support to attend band and ensemble rehearsals and performances across the City.
Here are a couple of quotes from the parents of two bursary recipients:-
"Without the bursary support, music lessons would have been unaffordable for my son. He is loving his drum lessons & is literally drumming on everything. Thank you so much for making this accessible for all.”
"Without the Young Musicians Bursary Fund, it would have been much harder for me to afford instrument lessons for both of my daughters. As a single parent, I am always conscious of my children feeling that they have the same access to opportunities as children in families with two incomes. Playing an instrument not only inspires them, grows their self-esteem and challenges them, it also opens up ensemble playing and all the joys that go along with that.”
