Andrew Lloyd Webber’s response to the Department of Media Culture and Sport’s white paper announced 23 March 2016

I hugely welcome the publication of the  Government’s first cultural strategy for 50 years and hope that this will be matched by education policies that ensure access to the arts for all young people. I believe passionately in the empowering force of music and the transformative effect the arts can have on children and young people.  Many of the projects funded by my charitable Foundation are involved in this work but it cannot be left to charities, government support is vital. Every penny spent on the arts results in major returns to the treasury.
